Background

Newark approached me with a Figma file containing the design they envisioned for their new e-commerce website. My task was to take this Figma design and transform it into a fully functional e-commerce platform, ensuring that every design element from the Figma file was replicated accurately. The goal was to maintain the integrity of the design while implementing the necessary features for a seamless e-commerce experience.

Project Goals

These goals ensured that Newark's e-commerce website would provide a seamless and efficient shopping experience while maintaining strong customer engagement through newsletters and membership features.

1. Fully Functional E-commerce Platform
  • Building a comprehensive e-commerce website that aligns with Newark's Figma design.
2. Design Consistency
  • Ensure the design exactly matches the provided Figma file.
  • For any missing pages, create designs that match the rest of the existing design.
3. Shipping Integration
  • Integrate with Newark's chosen shipping courier.
  • Automatically calculate shipping rates based on the customer's location.
4. Deals and Discounts
  • Implement features for deals and discounts.
  • Offer free shipping for orders over $80.
5. Newsletter Subscription
  • Automatically add customers to the newsletter subscription list upon purchase.
  • Use Editor X to generate and automatically send newsletters and updates.
6. Membership Program
  • Incorporate a membership program where customers can purchase memberships.
  • Enable annual or monthly billing for memberships.
  • Allow customers to create accounts to log in and access their information.

Final Design

The live website for Newark, which I designed and developed during my tenure at Minimil, was significantly altered after my departure from the company. Despite these changes, I have a screen recording of the original website showcasing my work before these modifications were made. This recording highlights the original design and functionality I implemented (video has been sped up).

Launch Strategy

To ensure a successful launch of the Newark e-commerce website, I began with a soft launch to a select group of loyal customers to gather initial feedback and make any necessary adjustments. This was followed by a full-scale launch, accompanied by a targeted marketing campaign across social media and email newsletters. We offered special promotions and discounts to incentivize early purchases and more traffic to the website.

Post-Launch Strategy

Post-launch, I closely monitored the website’s performance using analytics tools to track user behavior and sales metrics. Regular updates and improvements were made based on customer feedback and data insights. Continuous engagement through newsletters, social media, and customer support ensured ongoing customer satisfaction and retention. Additionally, we periodically introduced new features, products, and promotions to keep the website dynamic and engaging.
